Do you need the pneumonia vaccine?

Pneumonia vaccination is recommended for people aged 70 or above, or above 50years for Indigenous people.

Unlike the flu vaccine, Pneumonia vaccine usually only needs to be given once.

However, in Indigenous patients & patients who are susceptible to severe infections, a different schedule applies. Examples include people with immune deficiency, chronic heart/lung or kidney disease, Diabetes, splenectomy (removal of the spleen), or those on immune suppressive therapy.
